Foundation Interns

We are big proponents of “uplifting humanity.” In fact, it’s deeply embedded in our culture and values. Education is a human right and we strive to support, invest and encourage Whatcom County and global residents alike to pursue and achieve their dreams.

We pride ourselves in going the extra mile by helping students advance their education and develop their professional skills through our internship program. Meet our current interns!

AMBER CARLSON

Amber Carlson Intern

Amber Carlson is the new Foundation intern. Amber grew up in Ferndale and graduated from Ferndale High School in 2014.

She began her original degree program at Whatcom in early childhood education in 2015 and began working at AHA Childcare & Family Learning Center in Ferndale. She quickly rose through the ranks to become a teacher and worked there full-time for a couple of years. She then worked as a cashier at the Ferndale Haggen, where, coincidentally, she got to ask shoppers if they’d like to donate to the WCC Foundation during one of the store’s fund drives!

Amber returned to Whatcom this spring with a new goal of an associate’s in business administration, with the ultimate goal a bachelor of applied science degree in business management from WCC. Amber says she's still deciding where her career path will take her, and she is excited to be working in an office setting at the Foundation to gain experience. Amber said she's always looking to learn and wants to make a difference in whatever work she chooses.

When she's not at school or working, Amber enjoys spending time with her husband and her father and her menagerie of pets that includes dogs, lizards, ducks, a cat and a bird. She also enjoys photography and is currently taking a Community Education photography class. Welcome, Amber.
