Whatcom Community College provides a variety of opportunities for staff and faculty to be involved in the further internationalization of our college. Opportunities to internationalize the curriculum
Northwest International Education Association (NIEA)
As a member of NIEA, WCC faculty members are invited to participate in workshops, trainings and conferences on themes related to internationalizing the classroom experience. Each spring the NIEA conducts a faculty workshop with such previous themes as Migration and Cultural Conflict in Europe, Education in the Classroom and Around the World, Human Environmental Security and Globalization for Better and for Worse.
Each summer the NIEA conducts the Master Teacher Summer Institute in conjunction with the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. Faculty from NIEA member colleges who are selected for these programs receive financial support to attend the three-day institute with such previous themes as America - Empire or Human Rights?, Global Religions, and Global Human Security.
Fulbright Programs
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries." Fulbright provides opportunities for staff and faculty to host long-term or short-term visiting scholars, receive funding to teach and/or conduct research abroad, or learn more about administration of colleges or universities abroad.

Washington Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA)
Through membership in WCCCSA, Whatcom Community College faculty have the opportunity to apply to teach abroad on WCCCSA programs. WCC faculty have previously taught in WCCSA programs in London, Florence, and Costa Rica.
