Students who are considering studying abroad should first contact Ulli Schraml, Associate Director of International Programs for Internationalization, by email uschraml@whatcom.edu or phone 360.383.3244 to make an appointment for an initial meeting.

The following is a general description of the application procedure for study abroad programs:

 

Planning

  • Prepare a list of questions for the Associate Director/Study Abroad Advisor
  • Schedule an appointment with the Associate Director/Study Abroad Advisor
  • Complete WCCCSA Preliminary Application

 

Applying

  • Fill out program application forms
  • Provide an unofficial copy of transcripts (with minimum GPA 2.5)
  • Write a one-page narrative about yourself, your interests, your goals, your expectations for study abroad
  • Provide two letters of recommendation (including one from a faculty member)
  • Bring all above listed documents to the interview including a check for the deposit
  • Apply for financial aid (optional)

 

Preparing for departure

  • Apply for a passport, or make sure your current passport is valid
  • Complete medical form
