The student must meet the College Bound pledge requirements and income-eligibility as determined by their financial aid application (FAFSA or WASFA) in their senior year of high school.

WA College Grant | finaid@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3010 | All students who apply for Financial Aid will be automatically considered. You may be eligible to attend Whatcom Community with free tuition! While not all students will be eligible for free college, many likely will still qualify for a reduced tuition amount. 

Work Study | workstudy@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3018 | Employment for financial aid recipient students who have unmet financial aid need. Jobs that can match your education goals  and interests. On campus or off campus positions can be available.

Basic Food Employment & Training (BFET) | bfet@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3185 | A program funded by Washington State that can help eligible students to obtain basic food assistance (SNAP/EBT), textbooks and tuition support, and career and academic planning, and to qualify for childcare subsidy. Eligibility is partially determined by your income and partially by what degree you are earning. 

Passport to College | passport@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3080 |Funding support program for students from foster care, and those who have experienced unaccompanied homelessness. 

Eligible consumers get up to $9.25 per month off the cost of phone, internet, or bundled services through the federal Lifeline program. If you live on Tribal lands, you can receive a discount of up to $34.25 per month, and up to a $100 reduction in first-time connection charges. Find out if you qualify.

Running Start | rstart@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3123 | An opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits that count towards high school graduation.  Running Start students pay some fees, but not tuition.  Funding support available for qualified students.

Veterans Benefits| veterans@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3015 | Veterans may be eligible to use Veterans Administration education benefits at Whatcom. If you are a veteran, or an eligible dependent of a veteran, be sure to connect with Veteran Services as early as possible.

Undocumented Students | outreach@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3002 | Committed to providing college access, Whatcom Community College minimizes barriers by offering in-state tuition and grant funds to eligible students who cannot file a FAFSA because of their immigration status. Our students may receive grant funds, financial aid application support, scholarships, and support from a team dedicated to academic success. Students can submit a WASFA to access state financial aid. Whatcom maintains confidentiality of student education records, including immigration status.

Worker Retraining Program | WRT@whatcom.edu | 360.383.3080 | A funding and support program for unemployed individuals who need to retrain for a new career due to a lack of demand for their skills. Worker Retraining can cover some tuition/books, and other items based on student eligibility.
