The ASWCC Senate is an opportunity for students to use their voice to make decisions about funding, programming, events, and opportunities on campus. The ASWCC Executive Board joins 12 ASWCC Senators to make up the ASWCC Senate, and each member of the Senate is required to maintain a list of 20 active constituents from the ASWCC student body. ASWCC Senate meetings are open the public and all students are welcome—and encouraged—to attend!
What does the Senate do:
ASWCC Senate is the main voting body of students on campus. During ASWCC Senate meetings, services and activities (S&A) recipients give reports, ASWCC student government members allocate funds, and students can bring questions and concerns before the Senate during "open floor".
Getting connected:
Come join a senate meeting! You can get on the agenda by contacting ASWCC President no later than 1 week in advance of scheduled meeting.
Requesting funds:
Submit a completed ASWCC Funding Request Form to StudentLife@whatcom.edu no later than 1 week in advance of scheduled meeting.
ASWCC Senate Meeting Schedule
The main purpose of ASWCC Senate meetings will be to oversee the allocation of Senate funds, hear reports from the 2023-24 S&A recipients regarding the use of funds for co-curricular and extra-curricular services and activities, and to provide an open forum for students to voice their questions and concerns regarding the Whatcom student experience.
Meetings are schedule:
Mondays in Syre 107/108 starting at 3:00 pm.
