Any student 18 or older, registered for at least 5 credits at WCC is eligible to apply for housing.

APPLY TO WHATCOM COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO RECEIVE YOUR STUDENT ID # AND SET UP YOUR STUDENT E-MAIL ACCOUNT. You will need this to apply for housing. 

APPLY FOR HOUSING BY FOLLOWING THE STEPS BELOW:

• Log in at https://whatcom.erezlife.com
• Sign in with your WCC username (ex: jdoe1234) and password that you set up for your account. 
• Once signed in, click on the “Housing” tab, then click “Housing Overview.”
• Answer the few questions that appear and click “Save.”
• Under the “Housing Overview” tab, there is a list of application forms separated by quarter. Click the button that says “Apply Now” next to the quarter you are applying for.
• Fill out the application, when you get to the end, click the button on the right side that says “Continue to:
• You can upload your proof of ability to pay when filling out your application or e-mail it directly to residencelife@whatcom.edu.
• Confirm application-clicking save with save your application in process but not submit it.
• Read the terms and conditions and check the boxes, and then click “Submit Application.”

You will receive an e-mail with confirmation that your application has been received.

• PAY THE NON REFUNDABLE $50 APPLICATION FEE: 

Pay the application fee by calling 360-383-3363. If there is no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned. 

• PROVIDE PROOF OF ABILITY TO PAY:

Housing fees are charged quarterly and due at the beginning of each quarter. A financial aid award letter, grant documentation, bank statement, 529 statement or check stubs are examples of documentation of proof of ability to pay. How do you intend to pay your housing fees? That is the documentation that we are looking for.

• COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK:

Once the steps above are completed, your background check will be requested. You will receive an e-mail from Checkr to your student e-mail address. Follow the instructions in the e-mail to complete the check. Background check results may affect housing eligibility.

• HOUSING OFFER RESERVATION:

A housing offer will be e-mailed to you when the application process is complete. A reservation fee of $250 will be added to your student account and due immediately when you accept your housing offer in Cedar Hall. Your reservation fee will be refunded if you choose to cancel your reservation and provide written notice of this decision to residencelife@whatcom.edu at least 72 hours prior to your assigned move in date. This fee will not be refunded if you cancel your reservation less than 72 hours prior to your assigned move in date. 

The $250 reservation fee will roll over to your refundable deposit at move in and your deposit will be considered paid in full. Housing charges and a $250 non-refundable cleaning fee will be added to your student account after move in and due upon receipt of your invoice.

Housing costs align with the academic quarter and are added to your student account after move in and due within 10 days of move in or 10 days after the start of the quarter. The break between quarters is included only when student is remaining in housing through the following quarter. If student is not remaining in housing they must vacate the unit within three days after the end of the quarter.  

All rooms are single occupancy and designed for one resident. Rooms come furnished with a bed, drawers, desk, chair and closet.

Kitchen space is shared with suitemates and includes seating, a two burner stove, microwave and a full size refrigerator. The community kitchen and the 4th floor lounge have ovens available.

Furnished living room includes comfortable seating and a smart TV.

We look forward to welcoming you to Cedar Hall. Your placement letter will include your scheduled move in date and time. Prior to your move in time, please visit the help desk in the Learning Commons to get your student ID card. Your student ID card is your access in to Cedar Hall and your suite. When you arrive at Cedar Hall you will receive your bedroom key and sign documents with Residence Life staff. Family or friends are welcome to help you move in. All guests of Cedar Hall must sign in and out at the front desk.

Terri Thayer is an enrolled member of the Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation. She has a Bachelors Degree in History from Western Washington University and a Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. Terri has worked in higher education for over 15 years in number of departments. She enjoys cooking, traveling and being creative. Terri loves to laugh!

Terri is excited for the opportunity to work within Cedar Hall and understand the honor it is to build and live on the land originally cared for by the Salish people. She believes that Cedar Hall will continue to practice a legacy of caring and community. Each individual has a unique story and Terri hopes that Cedar Hall will provide residents with the opportunity to live their authentic selves while creating relationships of respect and caring for each other.

Mo earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Eastern Washington University. After ten years in various roles at Jubilee Women’s Center in Seattle, Mo and her wife, Carol, moved to Lopez Island. Cooking at Vita’s Café and working in the island's K-12 school kitchen made assimilating to island life pretty seamless. The Residence Life position at WCC drew Mo back to the mainland in 2017. 

Mo looks forward to welcoming Whatcom students to Cedar Hall and working to create an inclusive environment for all residents. 

In her free time Mo can be found cooking, playing pickleball, hanging out with friends, sailing, camping and enjoying other adventures.

 

Chelsea is a proud alumnus of WCC where they completed their Associate's Degree as a Running Start student. They also have a Bachelor's Degree in History from Western Washington University and a Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Washington University. Chelsea began volunteering with international students in 2012, which has led to an exciting career in international education. After working abroad in Japan and Germany, as well as traveling to many other countries around the world, Chelsea is happy to be back home to help international students make the most of their time here at Whatcom. In their free time, you can catch Chelsea visiting museums, playing tabletop games, and exploring the world with friends.

Hi, I'm Shay. I grew up on a remote island in the San Juans and visited Bellingham regularly to see family. I finally moved to Bellingham for high school and have lived here ever since. I got my associate's at Whatcom during which time I lived at Cedar Hall. I was inspired to become an RA after being part of the dorm community. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's in psychology at Western. 

 I like gaming and anime. I've done some cosplay and hope to do more. If you ever want to talk I would enjoy getting to know you better.

Hello ! My name is Naomi Petalwood . I go by she / her . You can call me Naomi or Jamie . I am an RA on the third floor and I am studying foreign language here at WCC ! I enjoy learning about foreign languages and cultures and would love if you shared any of your experiences with me !
 I grew up in-between Florida and Switzerland , and in August of 2021 , I moved cross country here to Washington .  
My interests involve reading , art , and learning about new things !
 One fun fact about me is that I have been collecting books my entire life and I currently have over 600 [books] ! My favorite multimedia genre is fantasy and my favorite movies and books are the How to Train your Dragon and Wings of Fire series . ( Feel free to chat with me about your favorite series ! )

Hey, my name is Emma and I was born in Edmonds. I grew up in Arlington starting from grade 4 and graduated there. I finished my AA a year after I graduated high school and then moved across the mountains for my bachelor's at Eastern Washington University. My goal is to complete the rest of my prerequisites at Whatcom Community College and then apply for the nursing program in the spring. I really enjoy playing some video games with my friends online. A recent new hobby of mine is cooking. I had a job as a chef for a year while I was away at Eastern, and I really like coming up with new things to make with substitutions. My favorite dishes to cook all belong to Asian and Korean cuisine. I became an RA so that I could learn new and exciting abilities along with creating a new community with new friends. I really look forward to fostering new relationships with the community here.

Hi! My name is Mattie and I use She & They pronouns. I was born in Riverdale Georgia but grew up in Kodiak Alaska. While in high school I was earning college credits at the same time but did not want to jump straight into a big university, so I chose WCC. I am hoping to pursue my Associates in Arts and Sciences to become a photography teacher at the high school level. I enjoy photography (obviously), graphic design, and gaming when I'm not hanging out with my cat or friends. I am always open to meeting new people so don't hesitate to say hi!
