Complete the WASFA Application

2022-23 WASFA Application Open Now – 2023-24 WASFA opened on October 1st

Which WASFA application year should I fill out?

  • Complete the 2022-23 WASFA application if you are planning on being enrolled in college (as a new student or continuing student) in fall term 2022 through spring term 2023.

  • Complete the 2023-24 WASFA if you are planning on being enrolled in college in fall term 2023 through spring term 2024. The 2023-24 application became available on October 1, 2022.

  • Planning on taking courses in the summer? Please check with our Financial Aid staff to confirm which application you need to complete if you are enrolling in summer sessions.

The WASFA is for people who do not file a federal FAFSA application. People who complete a WASFA are applying for state aid. The main reasons to complete a WASFA instead of a FAFSA:

  • Immigration status, or student is undocumented
  • Undocumented parents or family members do not wish to file a FAFSA
  • Defaulted federal loans
  • Repayments owed on federal grants
  • Inability to provide selective service confirmation

To know if you are eligible, complete the confidential WASFA questionnaire. For more information, definitions, and requirements, please visit the Residency & Citizenship page.

Please Note: Although WASFA and SB 5194 share the same eligibility requirements, they are two different application processes at most colleges, including Whatcom Community College.
