Social
People with social interests like work activities to support others and promote learning and personal development. They prefer to communicate and actively engage with people. They like to teach, to give advice, to guide, help, support, educate, supervise, coach, manage, direct or be of service to people.
Investigative
People with investigative interests like work activities that have to do with ideas and thinking. They like to search for facts and figure out solutions. They like to look more deeply into facts through research and through using questioning- what, where, when, how and why.
Realistic
People with realistic interests like activities that directly interact with the physical world including hands-on practical engagement, solving problems and solutions. They may enjoy outside activities including working with plants, animals, real-world materials, being outside or athletic/sports/hiking experiences.
Artistic
People with artistic interests like being creative in their work, using self-expression and thinking outside the box. They prefer settings where work allows creativity without a clear set of rules to follow. They may enjoy the artistic perspective, possibly with forms, designs, and patterns.
Enterprising
People with enterprising interests like work activities that have to do with starting up and carrying out projects. They like persuading and leading people and making decisions. They may like to take risks for profit. Some with enterprising interests may be like to start or manage a business, sell goods, or be persuasive in professions such as attorneys or in industry.
Conventional
People with conventional interests like work activities that follow set procedures and routines. They prefer working with data and clear detail. They like to know their specific role with clear lines of authority, structure, and pattern to their work. They may prefer work in which there are precise standards rather than work in which you need to judge things on their own, they want to know specific expectations.
