Media Center

The Media Center, located in the Charles and Phyllis Self Learning Commons room 120, provides support and equipment for WCC students, faculty, and staff. Whether you’re working on an instructional assignment, professional development, or just learning a new hobby the Media Center is a space that is conducive to learning with access to higher-end equipment. 

Including:

  • Sound isolated recording rooms - Audio/video sound isolating edit rooms with audio mixers, microphones, studio monitors, video camera, video equipment interfaces and switcher, along with a computer workstation. Perfect for recording instruments, vocals, voice over, or podcasts; record video speeches/interviews, or edit audio tracks and videos.
  • Audio/video/photography studio with backgrounds, lighting, cameras, microphones and most of what you might need for a photo shoot, audio recording of an individual to a small band, video shoot of an interview or presentation. 
  • Eight Editing stations that support audio, video, photography, 3D model creation, and graphic design. Equipped with quality headphones, audio interfaces, Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCAD.
  • 44” Poster Printer, inkjet color printer 2280dpi x 1440dpi with choices of paper from fine art, photo, to general use paper.
  • 3D Printing Services
  • Collaboration table for working on group projects.

Reservations not required, but highly recommended for use of the editing rooms or studio.

There may be a cost associated with printing on the poster printer or the photo printer. Cost is minimal and based on cost of paper and ink. Speak with Media Center staff to determine the cost before using.

Makerspace

All students/staff are required to take training courses before gaining entry to the Makerspace (see Makerspace page). Initial training covers Safety then you choose additional courses of interest focused on the workstations available to you.

The Makerspace is just down the hall in LRN 110.  It has a variety of workstations including two well equipped electronics benches, several additional work benches, a Roland Camm-1 GR 540 vinyl cutter, a Janome MB-7 Embroidery machine, an industrial sewing machine, a standard sewing machine, a Cricut Maker, a Universal laser etcher/cutter/engraver, and more! The room is supplied with basic hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, etc.) and some power tools (Dremel, glue guns, drill, driver, drill press, and bench sander).

Equipment may be used for academic and/or personal projects, but not paid work.
