Course Proposal Information

Thank you for your interest in teaching for Whatcom Community College's Community & Continuing Education program. Our mission is to provide quality lifelong learning that is responsive, relevant, and accessible to the citizens of Whatcom County. Our classes are generated from the philosophy that learning is a rewarding, lifelong experience that occurs most fully in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.

Community & Continuing Education is seeking qualified instructors with expertise in the full range of topic areas to be found in our schedule. The best instructor candidates for our program are individuals who have a sincere interest in sharing their expertise with the community. Specifically, we look for:

  • Teaching experience (preferably in non-credit adult education)
  • Expert-level knowledge in topics of interest to the general public
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Topics that involve hands-on or interactive learning

Before completing the course proposal form, we ask that you review the FAQs below. We then invite you to complete all sections of the online course proposal form.

Each quarter, our Course Review Committee meets to consider submitted course proposals. If your course is chosen for further consideration, you will be invited for an interview. If we are unable to integrate your proposal into our present course offerings, it will be kept on file in our office for future consideration.

Currently, we are seeking instructors for the course topics listed below. If the course you would like to propose is not listed, we encourage you to submit it (provided it meets criteria outlined above and in the FAQs). We give all proposals thoughtful consideration.

Please note: Due to lean staffing, we are currently limiting the number of new instructor hires and course proposals accepted each quarter.
