This recommended pathway meets the requirements of the AAS/DTA degree and can prepare you for a university major in dance. But you can customize your plan even more. Talk with your advisor about adapting it for your individual goals.
Quarter 1 (13-15 credits)
DANCE 101 Modern dance I (3 credits)

This course is really helpful if you don't have much college experience.
Career exploration:
- Find your people! Attend area-of-study activities and connect with clubs related to your career goals. Find out where students in your pathway go to study and rehearse.
- Attend live dance performances.
- Ballet is important training for a dance career. Look for ballet instruction in the community.
Action items:
- Meet with your advisor to build your degree plan in Starfish.
- Have your transfer-in credits officially evaluated.
- Visit the Intercultural Center, the Learning Center and the library.
Quarter 2 (14-15 credits)

- Start keeping a portfolio of your best work.
- Earn your credit in HUM 106 by attending live dance, theatre or music performances or going to a museum.
- Talk to a faculty member in Dance about your goals.

If you choose DANCE 103 or three credits of DRMA 110 this quarter, you may want to add some elective credits. Your total 100- and 200-level credits will need to add up to 90.

- Meet with the Learning Contracts coordinator about independent study with a faculty mentor. You can take a WCC course that's not in the schedule or design a course around your own topic.
- Apply to graduate.
