BAS in applied business management at Whatcom

Whatcom Community College offers a bachelor of applied science (BAS) degree in applied business management, with cohorts beginning fall quarter and with all courses offered online. This degree is specifically designed to train you to be able to work in the variety of small to medium-sized growing businesses that make up the majority of Whatcom County’s employers. This is also the degree for you if you're a budding entrepreneur who wishes to stay and grow your businesses in Whatcom County.

Core coursework includes professional communication; human resources and marketing for managers; financial management; private enterprise, profits and social justice; business strategy and sustainability; and organizational leadership.

Program eligibility

To be eligible, students need to have an associate degree (business-related preferred) from any regionally accredited community or technical college, minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and 2.3 GPA in business-related coursework.

Interested students can prepare now by taking any of or all the following lower division general education requirements of the BAS degree:

  • ENGL& 101 English Composition I
  • ENGL& 235 Technical Writing
  • CMST 245 Organizational Communication
  • MATH& 141 Precalculus I (or Math 145)
  • MATH& 146 Introduction to Statistics
  • BUS& 201 Business Law
  • ECON& 201 Micro Economics
  • ECON& 202 Macro Economics
  • ACCT& 201 Principles of Accounting I
  • ACCT& 202 Principles of Accounting II
  • ACCT& 203 Principles of Accounting III

Costs
