Apply to BAS in Applied Business Management

How to enter

You must apply for entry into the bachelor of applied science (BAS) in applied business management program. The core courses start each fall quarter. The application for the fall 2024 BAS in applied business management program will open Feb. 1, 2024.

Priority deadline: April 12, 2024

Regular deadline: May 31, 2024*

*Applications will continue to be accepted while space remains available.

After each deadline, the college will let applicants know whether they have been accepted into the program within ten business days (not including holidays or college closures). Check your WCC student email for this message.

Financial aid applications typically take eight to ten weeks to process. You should apply for financial aid as early as possible so your application can be processed before tuition is due for fall quarter.

Program eligibility

To be eligible, you must have an associate degree (business-related preferred) from any regionally accredited community or technical college, minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and 2.3 GPA in business-related coursework.

Interested students can prepare ahead of time by taking any or all of the following general education requirements of the BAS degree:

Student selection

The BAS in applied business management selection committee will review the applications. For information about how applications are scored, refer to the BAS in applied business management applicant rubric. The number of available seats may limit how many students can be accepted.

Steps to apply

Complete the following steps to be considered for program acceptance. After completing steps 1-4, click on the link in step 5 to get to the BAS in Applied Business Management online application tool.

Step 1 - Apply to Whatcom Community College

To apply to the BAS in applied business management and pay related fees, you must:

Be admitted to WCC
Have an active ctcLink number
Have activated your student network account

Apply to WCC online, or visit Orca Central for assistance, or request a WCC application by email at outreachadmissions@whatcom.edu. Once you receive your ctcLink number, proceed to Step 2.

Important! You do not need to re-apply if you earned credit at Whatcom within the last four quarters.

Step 2 - Attend an information session

Step 3 - Gather all supporting materials

For your application to be considered complete, you must submit all the required supporting documentation with your BAS in applied business management application by the deadline:

Official transcript showing your associate degree from a regionally accredited community or technical college.
Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges where you earned credits that may apply to the BAS degree. WCC official transcripts are not required. For WCC students, please submit an unofficial transcript.
Contact information for two professional and/or academic references; e.g., current or former supervisors or instructors (letters of recommendation are not required.)
Personal statement addressing questions and criteria found here.

Step 4 - Pay application fee

A non-refundable $50 fee is required to apply to the BAS in applied business management program. Your application will not be processed until this fee has been received.

You can come to campus to pay the application fee, call 360.383.3363 to pay by credit card (if no one answers, leave a message with a return number), or mail your check made payable to "Whatcom Community College" to:

Include a completed application fee form with your check. Write your ctcLink number and "BAS-ABM program" in the memo line of your check.

Note: The fee is non-refundable. If you are not admitted to this program with your initial application, there will be no refund of the fee.
