Bellingham, Wash. – CyberWatch West, based at Whatcom Community College, is organizing three free information sessions in northwest Washington to introduce high school students, parents and teachers to the CyberPatriot program, the largest high school cyber defense competition in the United States.
Dr. Dan Manson, professor of computer information systems at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, will cover how high schools can form teams and compete in CyberPatriot competitions, which take place November through April. Space at the workshops is limited; register online at http://s.cyberwatchwest.org/competition. The workshops will be held the following days and locations:
- 1 p.m. Monday, August 28, Burlington Public Library, Burlington Rotary Community Meeting Room
- 4 p.m. Monday, August 28, Whatcom Community College, Syre Student Center 104
- 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, Everett Community College, Grey Wolf Hall 166
To support the formation of new CyberPatriot teams, CyberWatch West will pay the $205 registration fee for a limited number of northwest Washington high school teams participating for the first time in 2017-18. High schools must be CyberWatch West educational members for their CyberPatriot teams to qualify for registration fee sponsorship. For more information, email info@cyberwatchwest.org.
